Go to Your Room: Creating a Space of Solace Within

If you’re like me, growing up, hearing “Go to your room!” wasn’t exactly a positive-feeling thing to hear from a parent. It was a phrase that, although not inherently good or bad, could sometime invoke feelings of being “bad” or shameful. Not only did it mean I was in trouble or on my parent’s nerves, but it also felt like I was being sent to away because I deserved to be alone, often creating a sense of abandonment or misunderstanding. Now, as a mom myself, I completely understand a parent’s need to de-stimulate and create space for that when children are not listening or there is a mismatch in energies. As kids though, we might’ve heard this phrase as a form of punishment, a way for our parents or caregivers to establish control and discipline. But what if, instead of being a punishment, we could take back that phrase and reframe it into something empowering? What if “Go to your room” could mean something entirely different—something that helps us create a sanctuary within our minds, a space of peace, calm, and solace to recalibrate our energy and emerge in a more regulated state?

In this post, we’re going to explore how you can use that childhood phrase to your advantage by creating your very own “room” within your mind—a space where you can retreat to when things feel chaotic or overwhelming. This “room” will not only help you find a sense of inner calm, but it can also ground you in the present moment, making it a sanctuary that you can return to whenever you need it most. Ready to turn “Go to your room” into something meaningful and healing? Let’s dive in.

“Your visions will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
— Carl Jung

The Power of Creating a Mental Space

The concept of a “mental room” might sound a little abstract, but I promise you, it’s a tool that can be incredibly effective when it comes to managing anxiety, overwhelm, or even just the general noise that comes with life. In our busy, fast-paced world, we can get caught up in the hustle of everything—work, family, personal responsibilities, self-care routines, social media, you name it. The noise from all of that can drown us out if we’re not careful.

So, what can we do when the overwhelm feels too much? How do we find stillness in a world that is always moving? By retreating to your own mental space, or your “room,” you can create a sanctuary that exists only in your mind. This sanctuary can act as your safe haven when things feel ungrounded or chaotic, and when you visit it, you’ll feel an immediate sense of relief and peace.

This space is not just for meditation (though it’s great for that), but also for any time you need to ground yourself. If you feel anxious, emotionally drained, or just generally unbalanced, your mental room can be the perfect escape. It’s a place where no one can disturb you, a space that exists solely for your healing and solace.

How to Build Your Mental Space

Let’s talk about how to actually create this mental space. It’s simpler than you think, and with just a few tools, you can build it into something deeply soothing.

1. Begin with Your Breath

Before you even step foot into your mental space, it’s essential to start by grounding yourself with your breath. Our breath is one of the most powerful tools we have for calming the mind and body. So, take a deep breath in through your nose, hold it for a moment, and then exhale slowly. Do this several times, allowing your body to relax with each breath.

As you breathe (with eyes closed), start to visualize a door in front of you. This door represents the entrance to your inner sanctuary. Feel the sensation of it—whether it’s made of wood, glass, or stone, allow your mind to paint a vivid picture. Notice the details. Does it creak when you open it? Does the handle feel warm to the touch? Picture yourself stepping through that door, leaving behind the chaos and stepping into a space that’s just for you.

2. Engage All of Your Senses

One of the most powerful ways to build a mental sanctuary is by engaging all five of your senses. When you’re creating your room, think about what would make it feel real and immersive. Start with sight:

Sight: What does your room look like? Is it surrounded by nature, with sunlight streaming through the windows? Or is it more cozy, like a peaceful den with soft lighting? Maybe it’s a garden in your mind or a peaceful lakeside cabin. Paint a vivid picture in your mind and make it as detailed as possible. The more detailed it is, the more real it will feel.

Sound: What sounds fill the space? Is there the sound of a crackling fire, the gentle hum of nature, or soft music playing in the background? Perhaps it’s just the stillness, the quiet hum of your heartbeat. Focus on the calming sounds you can hear in your mental space.

Touch: What textures are around you? Maybe there’s a soft blanket you can wrap yourself in, or the cool stone of a fireplace surround. Feel the softness of your mental environment—the pillows, the floor beneath you, the calming touch of the air on your skin.

Smell: Now, bring in a scent. Perhaps it's the smell of fresh flowers, sandalwood incense, or the salty breeze from the ocean. The scent can be anything that makes you feel at peace, like lavender or fresh-cut grass. Notice how this smell helps you relax, grounding you even further into the present moment.

Taste: This one can be a little tricky to picture, but it’s just as important. Maybe there’s a warm cup of tea or coffee on the table in front of you, or you can taste the sweetness of a fruit in your mouth. It doesn’t need to be something literal, just something that makes you feel nourished and taken care of.

3. Use Your Room for Healing

Once you’ve built your mental space, you can begin to use it for healing and relaxation. Whenever you feel overwhelmed, anxious, or stressed, close your eyes and retreat to your room. Use the details you’ve created—the sights, sounds, smells, and sensations—to ground yourself in the moment. Take a few deep breaths, and allow your mind to settle.

You can also use your room for meditation. When you meditate, you are essentially bringing your attention to the present moment and calming the mental chatter. Your mental room can act as the perfect place to do this. If you’re someone who struggles to find peace during meditation, this space can serve as an anchor, a place you can always return to when your mind begins to wander.

Over time, this practice of visiting your mental room will become easier and more automatic. Just like you can physically return to your bedroom when you need rest, you can mentally return to your sanctuary whenever you need to recharge.

“The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek.”
— Joseph Campbell
“The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.”
— Rumi

The Holistic Benefits of a Mental Space

Creating a mental room doesn’t just help when you’re feeling anxious or overwhelmed—it has several holistic benefits for your overall well-being.

Reduced Anxiety: By practicing mindfulness in your mental room, you give yourself a safe space to process emotions and calm your nervous system. You can also tap into your parasympathetic nervous system, which helps activate the “rest and digest” mode in your body, reducing feelings of anxiety.

Increased Grounding: Whenever we feel scattered or ungrounded, our mental room can act as a reminder to slow down, reconnect with ourselves, and recalibrate. By spending time in your sanctuary, you’re literally rewiring your brain to associate peace and relaxation with stillness, helping you build a more grounded presence in your everyday life.

Heightened Self-Awareness: The more time you spend in your mental room, the more connected you’ll become to your own inner wisdom. It’s a space for introspection, a space to process emotions and gain clarity on any challenges you may be facing.

Improved Focus: When you use your mental room as a tool to center yourself, you’ll find that you have better focus and concentration. This can be incredibly beneficial when you’re tackling big tasks or facing overwhelming situations.

Enhanced Emotional Resilience: By visiting your mental sanctuary regularly, you’ll develop a sense of emotional resilience. You’ll likely become better equipped to handle stressful situations because you always have a mental space to retreat to.

Wrapping Up

“Go to your room” may have once been a phrase associated with punishment or isolation, but it’s time to reclaim it. You have the power to create a safe and peaceful sanctuary within your own mind—a space you can return to whenever life feels too overwhelming. By engaging all your senses and creating a vivid mental space, you can unlock a deep sense of peace, calm, and grounding. So, next time you’re feeling ungrounded, overstimulated (my personal favorite) or generally anxious, remember: you always have a room to go to. And in that space, you can find solace, clarity, and healing.

9 Ways to Get a Jumpstart & Make 2025 Transformational

Some of us like to make vision boards, others write a list of “New Year’s Resolutions”. Regardless of your approach, this is a great time of year to sit down and reflect, to celebrate this year’s wins and to get crystal clear on changes you may want to make in the coming year. As I was reflecting myself, I jotted down 9 ways to get started now rather than waiting until January 1st to implement changes.

1) Curate your social media

Unfollow any pages that distract you, make you feel less than, or just aren’t in alignment with the life you desire. This includes celebs, gossip pages, and people from your hometown you don’t vibe with anymore. Instead, follow self-empowerment pages, wellness accounts, special interests, and growth-focused content. Engage with what inspires you so you see more of it.

2) Reprogram your algorithms

Start searching for positive content on social platforms and Google. Look up topics like self-care practices, morning and nighttime routines, holistic health tips, meditations, mindset shifts, fasting, and anything else that supports your growth. Let the ether know you’re making a shift. Remember, algorithms reflect what you think about, search for, and engage with—so make it good stuff.

3) Block the negativity

From weird energy to plain old drama and negativity - If someone or something consistently makes you feel bad or simply doesn’t sit well with you, unfollow or block them, or set firm boundaries. Period. Boundaries are key to a better life, and this includes digital spaces. If you feel guilty, remember: it’s not about being “nice”—it’s about protecting your peace. Choose YOU.

4) Clean House

Donate or toss items that no longer bring you joy. Deep clean. Take it on one room at a time. Scrub the tub, dust hard to reach places, wipe down door frames and window seals, clean out the fridge, toss expired pantry goods, organize closets, add decor and items that make you feel good, get some houseplants. To be frugal, you can ask friends for plant cuttings to propagate, and thrift used decor items that speak to you (be sure to cleanse before adding to your space). Smudge your home counter-clockwise with sage and clockwise palo santo, light an incense, and rearrange to get stagnant energy moving.

5) Assess Your Habits

Which of your habits are no longer serving your highest good? Cut ‘em out. Decide which positive habits you’d like to implement, and start now.. no need to wait for January. Adopt supportive habits like grounding outside, exercising, journaling, meditating, eating nourishing foods, stretching, and regularly reaching out to connect with loved ones. Focus on mastering one new habit at a time. They’re the foundation for creating the life you want. They’re the structure that supports your highest good even when you “don’t feel like it.” Discipline + consistency = transformation.

6) Create a feel-good playlist

Make a go-to soundtrack filled with uplifting songs or calming frequencies to listen to daily or when you need a little pick-me-up. Skip anything low-frequency (sorry, gotta let the sad R&B songs, shoot-up-the-opps rage rap and tear-in-my-beer country music go while you’re trying to elevate). Music has power—choose sounds that really lift your spirit and put you in a good mood.

7) Write affirmations

Craft 5-10 personal affirmations like “I am worthy of love and abundance” or powerful ASKfirmations like “Why am I so healthy?” “Why am I so peaceful?” and “How do joy and success always find me?” You get the gist. Now record yourself saying them. Play this anytime you need to remember who you are. Bonus points for listening to them daily just before bed and right after you wake up while your brain is still in theta.

8) Visualize the BAG

Come up with a BAG (Big Audacious Goal) you want to secure in 2025. Visualize your life with said BAG secured. Whether it’s financial freedom, a loving partner, a new creative endeavor, a move or more free time to pursue side quests, etc., your goal should align with your core values and beliefs. Then ask: who do I need to become to make this happen? Remember, we attract what we are and what we believe in, so focus on becoming that version of you now.

9) Practice gratitude daily

Shift your focus to the good in your life. Gratitude helps you see solutions and invites more blessings your way. Stop judging others and situations negatively. No more ruminating on problems and telling all your friends and family about them. Start appreciating what is working. Staying in a state of appreciation attracts even more into your life to be grateful for. Quantum physics backs this—what you focus on expands.

Nurturing the Soul In Colder Months: Grounding and Creativity

As the chill settles in and the days get shorter, there’s a kind of quiet magic in the air—a call to go inward, rest, and create. Winter might be a season for slowing down, but it’s also a sacred time to nurture our inner divine creativity. Whether you’re cozied up in a home base or on the move like myself, here are some grounding activities, crafts, and homemaking rituals that invite warmth and wonder into your world during these colder months.

Embrace a Slow Morning Ritual Just for You

In the quiet of this season, starting our mornings slow can set the tone for a grounded day. If you’re lucky enough to have a little nook by a window, take a few moments to soak in the morning light while sipping a warm tea. It doesn’t have to be a big production—you can read a few chapters in an interesting book, grab a cozy blanket, maybe light a candle, and just let yourself *be*. Adding a few drops of an essential oil like cedarwood or an herbal medicine tincture can create a grounding atmosphere. As you sip your tea, take in deep nose breaths and express gratitude for whatever comes to mind. The emphasis should be on the breath and the feeling of gratitude, no matter what its tied to. These small rituals are like planting seeds for a positive, creative day ahead.

Create a Seasonal Altar or Sacred Space

Whether you’re parked in a van or tucked away in a home, setting up a small altar or sacred space can be a beautiful way to connect with the energy of fall/winter. Gather natural elements like pinecones, acorns, dried herbs, or crystals. You can use this space for grounding meditation or even as a place to journal or pull oracle cards. Make it reflect the energy you want to invite in—peace, creativity, balance. Even if it’s just a small corner, creating a little sanctuary can be a powerful anchor in the colder months. I do this even as I’m traveling, whether in a bnb, family’s home, tent etc. and it helps tremendously in keeping me grounded in myself.

Nature Walks & Winter Foraging

Just because it’s chilly doesn’t mean nature s off limits. Bundle up and get outside for a mindful walk. Collect interesting twigs, rocks, or fallen leaves for crafts or decorating. Winter has its own textures and colors if we slow down to notice them. Bringing natural finds back with you can lead to inspiration for creative projects or become grounding items on your altar.

Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge

DIY Natural Candle Making

Candles are a must for winter coziness. Try your hand at making your own natural beeswax candles infused with natural scents like pine, cinnamon, or clove. You don’t need a fancy setup. Get a simple candle-making kit, and add essential oils and natural decorations like dried herbs or tiny pinecones. Not only is this a great grounding craft, but it also feels amazing to light something you’ve created with intention.

Crochet, Knitting, or Weaving

If there’s ever a time to get cozy with yarn, it’s this time of year. Crochet, knitting, sewing, and weaving are all wonderful ways to unwind, stay present, and tap into that meditative flow of creativity. Don’t worry if you’re new to it; there are tons of beginner tutorials online. Start with something simple. Fiber crafts are perfect for creating something useful and warm, and they’re travel-friendly if you’re on the road.

Creative Journaling or Art

Set up a little creative corner with some of your favorite art supplies, a journal, or a sketchbook. Let this space be free of expectation—just a place to play and let your imagination wander. You can doodle, paint, or write poetry, whatever feels right. Keeping a journal by your side allows you to process, dream, and keep track of creative ideas and divine insights.

Practice Intentional Movement

When it’s cold, we might feel like staying wrapped in blankets, but even gentle movement can help us connect with our body and ground us. Try some gentle yoga flows, intuitive stretching, or even just putting on some music and swaying to it. Slow movements help us stay connected to ourselves, and if you’re somewhere with limited space, these can be easily done in a small area.

Bake Something Simple & Nourishing

Even if you’re in an RV with a tiny oven, baking can be a meditative act. Try a simple loaf of bread, muffins, or a small batch of cookies. It’s not about making something fancy—just the act of creating and enjoying something warm can be grounding and heartwarming. If you’re in a kitchen with limited supplies, you’d be surprised at the grounding energy that even a small skillet cornbread or a few spiced apples can bring.

Seasonal Decor & Simple Homemaking Touches

Adding touches of nature to your space brings warmth and a bit of magic to even the simplest setup. Use foraged branches, dried herbs, or winter flowers. They can be placed in a vase or even tied with twine and hung over a rear view mirror. If you’re nomadic, this can bring a sense of “home” wherever you are. These seasonal touches remind us that even as we wander, we can create spaces that feel sacred and aligned with our spirit.

Soulful Sounds

Whether you consider yourself musically inclined or not, you can bring soulful sounds into your space - aligning our emotional body with the external. I travel with a guitar I can barely play (as of now anyway), but you may prefer a singing bowl or steel tongue drum, or perhaps a harmonica. Even a small wind chime hanging on the porch or a soothing drum beat can help us stay in tune with our internal rhythm. Don’t be afraid of it not being good, just play. Make the sounds intuitively and see how you feel.

Embrace Reflection & Dreaming

Winter is also a powerful time for dreaming and reflection. Use this quiet period to journal on your intentions, dreams, inspired thoughts, and creative ideas. Let your imagination run wild with what you want to create, do, or explore. It’s a season for planting the seeds of what’s to come, so honor it by dreaming big.

There’s something deeply fulfilling about intentionally creating warmth and beauty, especially during the quiet of colder months. These grounding activities are a way to honor the season, our creative spark, and the beauty in slowing down. Take what resonates, let yourself be inspired, and trust that every small act of creativity is a step toward deeper connection with yourself.

Stay cozy, stay grounded, and let’s welcome the magic of this season together.

Wishing you love, light, wisdom and safe passage through the shadow season.

Embracing the Full Moon in Aries: A Journey of Surrender and Transformation

Embracing the Full Moon in Aries: A Journey of Surrender and Transformation

As the full moon rises on October 17, the vibrant energy of Aries ignites a powerful opportunity for transformation. This lunar phase is not just about illumination; it’s about shedding the old and embracing the new, pushing us toward our highest selves. It’s a time to reflect, surrender, and harness the intense energy of this fiery moon.

Surrendering to the Moon’s Energy

The full moon is a beacon of energy, illuminating all that has been hidden in the shadows. Aries, ruled by Mars, brings a rush of vitality and courage. It encourages us to confront our fears, let go of what no longer serves us, and embrace our authentic selves.

Surrendering means recognizing the parts of ourselves that we’ve outgrown—habits, beliefs, relationships, and fears. Take a moment to sit quietly under the moonlight. Breathe deeply and reflect on the aspects of your life that feel heavy or stagnant. What do you want to release? Allow the moon’s light to shine on those areas, illuminating what needs to be let go. Write it down, say it out loud, or simply envision it dissipating into the night sky.

Burying Your Past Self

Once you’ve identified what no longer serves you, it’s time to bury your past self. This isn’t just a symbolic gesture; it’s an act of empowerment. You can create a ritual to honor this transition. Consider writing a letter to your old self, expressing gratitude for the lessons learned but stating clearly that you’re ready to move forward.

Find a safe place to bury the letter or burn it (I’m fiery and a big fan of burning, but those with a lot of earth in their chart may prefer during), releasing the energy back to the universe to transmute. As you do this, visualize your old self fading away, creating space for the new you to emerge. Aries is a sign of action, so take this opportunity to act decisively. The full moon invites you to step into your power, igniting the fire within you to pursue your passions and dreams.

Remember that the universe already knows the desires of your heart, and focus with intent on what you are releasing from your life now..for good. It may be painful or unsettling at first, but deep down you know this is the shift to which you’re being called to surrender.

Stepping into Your Highest Self

With your past behind you, focus on who you want to become. What does your highest self look like? What dreams do you want to pursue? Aries encourages us to be bold, to take risks, and to chase our desires with fervor. Embrace this energy and let it fuel your aspirations.

In Conclusion

As you embrace the transformative energy of this full moon in Aries, remember that surrender is a powerful act of love for yourself. By letting go of your past self, you’re making room for growth, healing, and the manifestation of your highest self.

Under the glow of this bright full moon, trust in the journey ahead. Embrace your courage, honor your authenticity, and step boldly into the new chapter waiting for you. Let this full moon be a turning point—a reminder that you are capable of profound transformation when you align with the rhythms of nature and your own inner power.

Embrace the magic of the moment. Surrender, transform, and rise. 🌕✨

Spiritual Meaning of Fall Equinox and How to Align with the Changing of Seasons

The Spiritual Meaning of the Fall Equinox and How to Align with the Change of Seasons

The fall equinox, often referred to as the autumnal equinox or fall solstice, is a powerful moment in the year when the earth finds balance—equal light and equal darkness as day and night stand in perfect equilibrium. This event, occurring around September 21-23 each year, is more than just an astronomical milestone. For centuries, spiritual traditions have recognized the fall equinox as a moment to pause, reflect, and transition. It marks the shift from the active, outward energy of summer into the more reflective, contemplative energy of autumn. As we honor this celestial moment, we also align with nature's rhythm and invite spiritual harmony into our lives.

Understanding the Fall Equinox: A Moment of Balance

From a cosmic perspective, the equinox is one of two points in the year when the sun is exactly above the equator, creating a balance between day and night. For those in the Northern Hemisphere, the fall equinox signals the official start of autumn, while in the Southern Hemisphere, it marks the beginning of spring.

The fall equinox is a powerful symbol of duality and balance. The equal distribution of light and dark speaks to the broader cycles of life: growth and rest, expansion and contraction, activity and stillness. Spiritually, it reminds us of the importance of balance in our own lives. As we transition from the fiery energy of summer—often filled with action, movement, and productivity—we are invited to slow down and turn inward, just as nature prepares for winter.

This moment invites us to reflect on our personal harvest—what we have cultivated, created, and achieved over the past year—and to express gratitude for the abundance in our lives. At the same time, the equinox nudges us to release what no longer serves us, just as trees release their leaves to prepare for a quieter season of rest.

Spiritual Traditions and Celebrations

Many cultures and spiritual traditions honor the fall equinox with rituals, festivals, and ceremonies, recognizing it as a time of harvest, balance, and reflection.

In Pagan and Wiccan traditions, the fall equinox is celebrated as Mabon, the second of three harvest festivals. Mabon is a time to give thanks for the bounty of the earth, to honor the changing of the seasons, and to reflect on the balance between light and dark, life and death. It’s a moment to express gratitude for the abundance of the harvest and to prepare for the introspective winter months ahead.

In ancient Greek mythology, the equinox is linked to the story of Persephone, who descends to the underworld each fall to be with Hades, signaling the beginning of the dormant, darker half of the year. Her return to the earth in the spring represents the reawakening of life and light. This myth embodies the cycle of death and rebirth that the equinox represents.

For Native American tribes, the equinox was often a time to honor the connection between people and the earth. Rituals focused on giving thanks for the harvest and acknowledging the earth’s natural cycles. The autumnal equinox was also seen as a time for personal reflection and spiritual preparation for the winter months ahead.

No matter the tradition, the equinox is consistently seen as a sacred pause—a moment to honor both the light and the dark, both what we have gained and what we must release.

The Symbolism of the Harvest

At its core, the fall equinox is about the harvest—both literally and metaphorically. It’s a time to gather the fruits of our labor, to celebrate abundance, and to reflect on what we have nurtured and brought to fruition. But it’s also a time to recognize that the cycle of life includes both gain and loss, both growth and decay. Just as farmers harvest their crops, we too are invited to reflect on our personal harvests. What have we been working toward this year? What goals, dreams, and intentions have come to fruition?

This reflection can also involve acknowledging where we may have fallen short, where our efforts didn’t yield the results we hoped for. Rather than seeing these as failures, the equinox invites us to view them as part of the natural cycle of growth. Not everything is meant to blossom in the same season. Some seeds take longer to sprout, and others may need more care before they can bear fruit.

Just as important as the harvest itself is the act of letting go. The fall equinox is a time to release what no longer serves us, whether that’s outdated beliefs, habits, or attachments. Just as the trees shed their leaves, we are encouraged to let go of anything that is weighing us down or preventing us from moving forward. This process of release creates space for new growth in the future, allowing us to enter the coming months with clarity and purpose.

How to Align with the Change of Seasons

As the fall equinox approaches, we have the opportunity to consciously align ourselves with the changing seasons and tap into the spiritual energy of this transition. Here are a few ways to cultivate this alignment:

1. Embrace Reflection and Gratitude

One of the most powerful ways to honor the fall equinox is through reflection and gratitude. Take time to reflect on your personal harvest—what you’ve accomplished, what you’ve learned, and how you’ve grown over the past months. Acknowledge both the successes and the challenges, as both are essential parts of the journey.

Consider keeping a gratitude journal during this time, writing down the things you are thankful for each day. Gratitude is a potent way to shift your mindset toward abundance, even in moments of difficulty. It helps you recognize the blessings in your life and invites more positive energy into your experience.

2. Create Space for Letting Go

Just as trees shed their leaves in preparation for winter, the fall equinox is a perfect time for releasing what no longer serves you. This might include physical clutter, emotional baggage, or limiting beliefs that are holding you back.

Consider writing down the things you wish to release on a piece of paper, then burning or burying it as a symbolic act of letting go. This ritual helps create energetic space for new opportunities, ideas, and experiences to flow into your life.

3. Spend Time in Nature

One of the simplest yet most profound ways to connect with the energy of the fall equinox is to spend time in nature. As the world around you transitions from the lushness of summer to the cooler, crisper days of autumn, you can observe the natural cycles of change firsthand.

Take a mindful walk in the woods, visit a local park, or sit quietly in your garden. Pay attention to the subtle shifts—the changing colors of the leaves, the cooler air, the quieter sounds of nature. Nature’s rhythms can remind us to slow down, tune in, and honor the cycles within ourselves.

4. Balance Your Energy

The equinox is a time of balance, so it’s important to focus on balancing your own energy during this time. This could involve practices like yoga, meditation, or breathwork—activities that help you find stillness and equilibrium.

You might also consider balancing your work and rest cycles. As the days grow shorter, it’s natural to feel the pull to slow down and conserve your energy. Honor this by giving yourself permission to rest, recharge, and restore.

5. Set Intentions for the Season Ahead

While the fall equinox is a time for reflection, it’s also an ideal moment to set intentions for the season ahead. As we transition into the quieter, more introspective months of autumn and winter, think about how you want to use this time. What do you want to focus on? What inner work do you want to do? What goals do you want to plant, like seeds, that will grow in the coming year?

Setting intentions during the fall equinox helps you align with the natural cycles of the earth, harnessing the power of the season to support your personal growth.

Embracing the Wisdom of the Fall Equinox

The fall equinox is a sacred time of balance, reflection, and transformation. It offers a chance to honor the cycles of nature and align with the deeper rhythms of life. By embracing the symbolism of the harvest, practicing gratitude, letting go, and setting intentions, we can use this time to find greater spiritual harmony and prepare ourselves for the quieter, more introspective months ahead. Just as the earth transitions into autumn, we too are invited to honor our personal cycles of growth and change, finding peace in the balance of light and dark, gain and release.

September New Moon in Virgo

As summer sunlight begins to fade and the crisp fall air ushers in harvest season, we’re grounded in Virgo’s natural discernment and desire for improvement. The fruits of our labor are brought to the forefront, inviting us to evaluate what has flourished in our life and what may need readjusting. We’re encouraged to sift through ourselves, keeping what nourishes our spirit and releasing what no longer serves or highest good. The September New Moon in Virgo is a time to let go of self-doubt, self-criticism, and imposter syndrome as we step into our divine potential.

This is the season where our focus naturally shifts to reflection and making adjustments that will support our alignment through the colder, more introspective months. Now is the time to wrap up any undone projects or spiritual assignments we may have been putting off and ask ourselves, “How can I simplify my life and reduce any subtle chaos that overwhelms my mind or disturbs my nervous system?” It’s time to slow down, listen to the voice of our inner being, and acknowledge our limits. Have you been holding healthy boundaries, or are you pouring energy into something that no longer serves you? The more clarity and balance we find internally now, the more rest and graceful surrender we align with through Winter.

Whether you’re a ritual-ly person or just like to write down your intentions, I’m encouraging you to do your thing with clarity tonight. Then, dig deep this week, showing yourself and the universe why you want what you say you want, living that reality through your thoughts and actions.

Step 1) Clear OUT any old unhelpful patterns and thought processes,

Step 2) Bring IN habits and routines aligned with our best, most authentic selves.

My advice-
Take it slower this afternoon, calm your mind, and get clear on what it is that your soul desires most in this season and out of life in general. Don’t let past negative outcomes or experiences affect your vision. Hold your most feel-good vision for your life. As the sun sets and darkness sets in, get real with yourself about any limiting sh*t you might still be carrying around that blocks you from the reality you envision. As you become aware of the blocks through introspection and meditation, let them go with love and grace.

Everything you desire most is already here, happening right now. All it takes to realize it - to see it, touch it, taste it, smell it, etc. is a quantum shift (look into quantum mechanics and quantum leaping if you are skeptical).

What this means, as corny or “new age” as it may sound, is that you must align yourself in every way with the reality you desire. Universal laws and quantum science give us the secret code. They tell us that we have to deeply know that we are the creators of our own life simulation. We must believe it’s possible and that we are worthy of our desires. We must feel deep down that we are already living the desired reality. We must release any thought, subconscious belief or negative emotion that doesn’t align with the reality we want most for ourselves. Maybe most importantly, we have to feel genuine appreciation for all that we have in the now - today..where we sit - and make space with gratitude for all the blessings and healing we know are coming into our realities in the perceived future.

“Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
— Carl Jung

Although we do have all the answers already, the limitations of our human avatars and the stresses of modern day life tend to get in the way of us remembering those answers often. So, if you’re ever unsure of where to start with yourself, or how to get back on the right track.. examining and realigning your habits is usually the best place to focus.
